BG Says: Dragon Gate Infinity 91
By Brad Garoon | July 30, 2008
After two weeks off I’m back with more Hot Dragon Gate Action.
June 12, 2008 – Tokyo, Japan
The show starts with the Dragon Gate Digest. First up Kenichiro Arai introduces Shinobu as the newest member of Tozawajuku. The two of them and Taku Iwasa team up to take on the Typhoon team of Ryo Saito, Susumu Yokosuka & Dragon Kid, but lose their debut match as a trio. After the match Tokyo Gurentai attacks. NOSAWA issues a Twin Gate challenge to Typhoon, but Arai takes offense. Arai and Iwasa will face NOSAWA and MAZADA on an upcoming show, and Anthony W. Mori will fight TAKEMURA.
The rest of the digest is made up of clips from Buyuden 6. I can’t express how sad I am that an entire Buyuden show has been relegated to a two minute clip job. Don Fujii & Tetsuhiro Kuroda defeated Yuki Sato & Dick Togo. Togo and Fujii set up a singles match for Buyuden 7. Hopefully that’ll actually get some air time. Also on Buyuden 6 Shingo Takagi, Daisuke Sekimoto & Cyber Kong defeated Masato Tanaka, Masaaki Mochizuki & Magnitude Kishiwada. In what conceivable way could Dragon Gate think their fans wouldn’t want to see this? After the match Mochizuki announced he’d be in ZERO1-MAX’s Fire Festival tournament. Stupid digest.
Back at Korakuen Hall, Yasushi Kanda waits in the ring for his match against BxB Hulk. Hulk’s dancers come out and do their thing but Hulk doesn’t join them. Then, from out of nowhere Hulk runs in, dressed all in black and immediately grabs Kanda’s blue box and starts beating him with it.
BxB Hulk VS. Yasushi Kanda
Hulk continues to beat Kanda on the floor. Kanda bleeds so Hulk bites the wound. In the ring Hulk chokes Kanda with his ring jacket. The crowd doesn’t seem to know what to make of all this. Kanda hits a low blow and shoves Hulk to the floor. He whips Hulk into the crowd. He hits Hulk with a piece of wood. In the ring Hulk comes back with kicks. He kicks the blue box into Kanda’s face. He hits the EVO for 2 with a cocky cover. He hits the FTX for the win at 4:40 shown of 6:28. What probably should have been a squash for Hulk was turned into a 50/50 match that was only really notable because Hulk went dark and cheated. Sadly all that did was keep the crowd from knowing how to react.
