ROH Presents - Supercard of Honor III

By Garoon and Ziegler | June 23, 2008

    The best ROH DVD ever?

    March 29, 2008 - Orlando, Florida

    Introduction

BG Says: The weekend’s Video Wire begins with clips of Dragon Gate participation in ROH. They show clips of all the wrestlers that will be visiting on the weekend’s shows except for BxB Hulk since he hasn’t been in ROH before. I think they should have just used the footage they have of him from FIP. Next up the Minnesota Home-Wrecking Crew and Tyler Black cut a promo about getting Austin Aries in the Age of the Fall while they’re in Orlando. Jimmy Jacobs demands it of them. The ladies think they’ll have better luck than Black. In Philadelphia the newly expanded Sweet N’ Sour Inc is excited. Larry Sweeney says they’re going to get the ROH titles first and Vince McMahon’s money second. Brent Albright is still behind Adam Pearce but he’s apprehensive about aligning with Sweeney. Back in Orlando Lacey & Rain find Aries. Aries says that he doesn’t want to think about the Age of the Fall or Tammy Sytch, he just wants to focus on his upcoming ROH World Championship match. The Video Wire ends with part 2 of the Nigel McGuinness sit down interview. Dave Prazak asks McGuinness if his head injury going into the Sixth Anniversary Show was all a ruse. McGuinness won’t answer the question, but says that he’ll take every opportunity to retain his title. Of his upcoming title defense against Aries he says that he knows Aries is a tough competitor but he’s been missing something since coming back from TNA. Of Kevin Steen he says that the fans like him because they look like him. Of Claudio Castagnoli he makes fun of the accent and the hairline and says that he doesn’t deserve title match. Things wrap up with a clip of McGuinness laying Aries out in FIP during Aries’s FIP Championship match against Roderick Strong.

MATCH #1: Delirious vs. Go Shiosaki

BG Says: Shiosaki powers Delirious to the corner so Delirious pleads not to be chopped. Shiosaki absorbs Delirious’s shoulder tackles and chases him to the floor by threatening a chop. Back in the ring he tells the referee to disqualify Shiosaki if he uses chops. He hits an armdrag. He runs to the floor when Shiosaki threatens another chop. Back in the ring Delirious dodges a chop. Shiosaki dodges a clothesline and chops Delirious down for 2. Delirious comes off the top with a clothesline for 2. He hits a back suplex for 2. He hits elbows to the neck. Shiosaki comes back with the Burning Sword. He hits a leaping shoulder tackle for 2. He hits a Stun Gun and a kneedrop for 2. He chops the back and puts on a chinlock. Delirious gets a sunset flip for 2. Shiosaki hits chops and a delayed fisherman buster for 2. He hits a bodyslam but the moonsault hits knees. Delirious comes back with strikes. He hits a leaping clothesline. He hits a slam and a senton for 2. He hits a drop toehold into the corner and the Panic Attack. He climbs the ropes but Shiosaki blocks the Shadows with a superkick. He hits a German suplex for 2. He hits a pair of chops for 2. Delirious puts on the Cobra Stretch but Shiosaki gets to the ropes. Shiosaki hits a lariat for 2. He rolls through a roll up and hits the Go Flasher for the win. The middle of the match moved at half speed, but the match was light hearted and fun. That’s how I like my openers. The finish was pretty cool, too.
    Rating: ***

JZ Says: Delirious does a lot of comedy early on, and spends most of the time trying to avoid Shiozaki’s lethal chops, and I can’t say I blame him. Delirious settles down and they go back and forth for a while, each hitting some of their signature moves. Delirious is able to get the Cobra Stretch, but that doesn’t finish Shiozaki off. A few moments later Shiozaki hits the Go Flasher to score the pin at 12:14. That was a solid opener and a good way to get the crowd fired up.
    Rating: **¾

Another Day in the Life of Larry Sweeney

BG Says: Sweeney and Shane Hagadorn are excited about the contacts they made this weekend. Chris Hero and Daniel Puder may be moving onto bigger and better things outside of ROH very soon. Hagadorn asks what happened with Roderick Strong. Sweeney says he got an interesting phone call about that and they leave to follow up.

JZ Says: Larry Sweeney and Shane Hagadorn continue to enjoy themselves backstage, and Hagadorn reports that Adam Pearce and Brent Albright are enjoying their vacation.

MATCH #2: Sal Rinauro, Kenny King & Chasyn Rance vs. Dingo, Alex Payne & Bushwhacker Luke

BG Says: Having Luke and Payne on the same team could be dangerous for reasons I don’t dare get into. Rinauro and Dingo start. Rinauro puts on a chinlock. Dingo escapes with a takedown. He keeps Rinauro down with right hands. Rinauro goes to the eyes. Payne tags in and hits a bodyslam. He hits a kneedrop. Payne pulls King to the floor so Rance does the same to Payne. Serves him right. Back in the ring Rinauro stomps on Payne for 2. Rance tags in and hits a kneedrop for 2. King tags in and hits a clothesline for 2. Rinauro tags in and sends Payne into a backbreaker from King. That gets 2. King hits a Stun Gun. Rance hits a leg lariat. King hits a legdrop for 2. Rance hits a bodyslam. Rinauro hits an elbowdrop off the top. He hits a backbreaker and a German suplex for 2. King tags in and gets caught with a backslide. He comes back with a big boot. He kicks Luke off the apron. Payne hits him with a DDT. Dingo tags in and cleans house. He hits Rinauro with a head scissors takedown. He hits a knee to the back for 2. Payne dropkicks Rance and King off the top. Luke comes in and cleans house. He hits everyone with the Battering Ram. Luke and friends dance around the ring, leaving them open for an attack from behind. Dingo gets triple-teamed in the corner. Rinauro finishes him off with a springboard kick. The YRR looked really good, but there must be something better for them to do in ROH than beat up old men and jobbers.
    Rating: **½

JZ Says: Sal Rinauro really should change his gear, that’s what he was wearing when he was in the Embassy back in 2006. I’m really not sure what the idea was behind bringing Luke it for anything. It seems like a stretch to call him a legend in the wrestling business. Just because you wrestled in the 1980s doesn’t mean you are a legend. I also wonder why people cheer for Alex Payne so much. Do they think it’s funny or something, because the dude has no personality and hasn’t really developed much as a wrestler or anything? Watching guys bump around like morons for old washed up veterans like Luke makes me sad. The YRR finally get the win with a succession of maneuvers on Dingo to get the pin at 8:13. At least the YRR won, but most of the match was tough to swallow.

    S&S + NRC = ???

BG Says: After defending their belts in a match taped for the Take No Prisoners PPV the tag champs Davey Richards and Rocky Romero are approached by Sweeney in the ring. He says that he knows Roderick Strong can be hardheaded so he wants to give Richards and Romero his offer again. Strong comes out and says the No Remorse Corps is not interested in dissolving. Erick Stevens runs out to get his hands on Roderick Strong.

JZ Says: Larry Sweeney comes out to the ring with Shane Hagadorn, as Prazak mentions that they just filmed a Tag Team Title match for their next pay-per-view. Davey Richards & Rocky Romero successfully defended the belts against Ruckus & Jigsaw, if you’re curious. Sweeney wants to talk to the champs about dissolving the No Remorse Corps. That brings out leader Roderick Strong, who once again expresses that he has no interest. Erick Stevens comes down, and it looks like he’s ready to start their scheduled match.

MATCH #3: FIP World Title Match - Roderick Strong vs. Erick Stevens

BG Says: The match never starts but a crazy brawl ensues. Stevens chops Strong so hard that his chest bleeds. The crowd chants for the referee to ring the bell but Stevens knocks him down before he has a chance. The referee gets up so Strong knocks him down. Stevens nails the referee again, leaving him open for Strong to slap him down. Strong’s chest is disgusting, making Dave Prazak gag a little on commentary. Strong beats the crap out of Stevens against the barricade. He wraps a chair around Stevens’s head and rams it into the post. Stevens bleeds from the forehead. Back in the ring Stevens slams Strong’s head into a chair. He chops the skin off of Strong’s chest. Strong slaps Stevens across the face. Stevens comes back with the TKO on an upright chair. He bites Strong’s newly busted open face. Strong blocks the Choo Choo and hits a clothesline. Stevens hits a German suplex. He hits the Choo Choo and a lariat. Strong hits the Sick Kick. He punts Stevens’s face. They trade forearms until they collapse. Strong smacks Stevens with a chair. He calls out Romero and Richards, who bring out scissors and an electric shaver. Strong shaves off Stevens’s mohawk. Stevens is left laying with only patches of hair on his head. Prazak wrongly states that Stevens has had the mohawk his entire career. Technically this wasn’t a match, but had it been it would have probably been rated on the same level as their Final Battle match. I very much appreciate how much Stevens sold the single chair shot to the head.

JZ Says: I thought this would be higher on the card given that they’re in Florida, where the FIP Title originated, but they made it make sense. There has been no bell to start the match, and both guys take shots at the referee so it looks like this is not an official match. Strong’s chest starts bleeding, and that is gross man. Stevens’s head gets busted open and this is just a brutal fight. After about fifteen minutes of sick brawling, Strong calls the NRC out and they have scissors and hair clippers, and they cut Stevens’s trademark Mohawk. The crowd expresses its displeasure. That was a pretty awesome segment, though I can’t rate it since it wasn’t a real match. It was cool though, and this feud keeps right on rolling.

MATCH #3: Relaxed Rules - Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black vs. The Briscoe Brothers

BG Says: Before the match a video plays chronicling the feud. It has certainly been violent. The best part of the feud was probably the Briscoes sitting in the back after losing the tag titles talking about how losing the belts hurt more than getting bled out from the ceiling or wrapped in barbed wire. Jacobs cuts a promo in the ring, talking about getting the homeless Milo Beasley into the building for free. Jacobs is going to come to terms with Austin Aries later tonight, but right now he’s ready to destroy the Briscoes once and for all.

Everyone brawls to start. Mark hits a superkick on Black. He hits a crossbody off the top. He and Jay hit the double shoulder tackle on Jacobs. Mark hits a clothesline and Jay hits a big boot. Everyone fights to the floor so Mark jumps off the top with a moonsault. The Briscoes shove Jacobs and Black into the crowd. Mark pulls a trampoline out from under the ring and uses it to clear the barricade and dive onto both opponents. He suplexes Black onto a bunch of chairs. Jacobs hits Jay with a bottle of booze and takes a swig. Black backdrops Mark onto a bunch of chairs. Jacobs spears Jay with the help of a rolling trunk. Mark hits a chair assisted standing moonsault on Black. Jay blocks a second trunk spear with a kick. Black backdrops Mark onto some chairs. Chair shots get thrown around like chops. Jacobs leaps off the bleachers to hit a clothesline on Jay. Mark suplexes Black onto more chairs. He bulldogs Black onto an upright chair. Jay hits Jacobs with a backdrop on the floor. The Briscoes hit Jacobs with the double toss through a bunch of chairs. They bring a table out from the back and set it up under a balcony. They brawl around the table for a long time, setting up the big spot. Jay tries to put Black on the table but Milo Beasley shoves him off. Jay puts Beasley on the table and Mark dives off the balcony onto him. In the ring Jacobs puts a plastic back on Jay’s head. He and Black hit the Double Dropkick of Woe for 2. Black hits the Paroxysm. Jacobs hits a senton off the top for 2. Jay comes back with the Complete Shot into the corner. He hits Black with a superkick and a big boot. He hits Jacobs with the Falcon Arrow for 2. He hits Black with the DVD for 2. Jacobs hits a low blow. Black gets a roll up for 2. Jacobs hits a super Contra Code for 2. Jacobs pulls his own hair out in frustration. Black goes for the phoenix splash but Mark shoves him to the floor. Jay hits Jacobs with the Alleyoop. Jacobs counters the Doomsday Device to the End Time for the submission victory. They lifted the finish from the Briscoes’ attempt at the GHC tag titles a few weeks before this, but it worked there and it worked here. The match was all their previous matches turned up to 1,000.
    Rating: ****

JZ Says: The video package before the match condenses over six months of feuding into about a minute. This one has had ups and downs but I’d say it’s mostly been pretty good. Lacey and Rain both accompany the Age of the Fall to ringside. Jacobs grabs the microphone and talks about their revolution but the crowd doesn’t want to hear it. He bought a ticket for a “homeless man in a wheelchair” (FIP’s Mr. Milo Beasley) so that he could have one night of enjoyment, and that’s how you change the world – one person at a time. He promises to cut the head off the dragon tonight, that being Jay & Mark Briscoe. This one is under relaxed rules, and the fight starts right away. Prazak says this is only the second time the combination of Jacobs and Black have faced Jay and Mark, but if you count the last fall of Ultimate Endurance back at Proving Ground (and why wouldn’t you?) Prazak is incorrect. The Briscoes find a trampoline and use it, which makes sense since they’re at a recreation center. The commentators bail out as the brawl spills further into the crowd. Jacobs taking a swig of some fans’ booze and spitting it at Jay is pretty cool. I don’t understand what Jacobs has on his tights. The editing on this match is really good, and it’s far superior to that picture in picture stuff they do sometimes. Beasley even gets involved and ends up taking a splash through a table for his troubles. When the match gets back to the ring Prazak and Leonard rejoin us. Jacobs uses a plastic bag to try and suffocate Jay. Jay is by himself for a while before Mark makes his comeback. The Briscoes try the Springboard Doomsday Device but Jacobs AWESOMELY reverses it to the End Time and that ends the match at 15:06. That was definitely the best match of this feud by a substantial margin, and Jacobs’s finisher gets tons of credibility right there.
    Rating: ****¼

    Intermission

BG Says: In the back Stevens says that losing his blood and his hair is not going to stop him. He’s going to keep fighting until he takes the FIP title from Roderick Strong.

The Age of the Fall are happy with their victory. They’re rooting for Aries in the main event, and they’re sure he’ll join the Age of the Fall. After tonight they’re going to get the tag belts back. Lacey has a contingency plan for Aries.

JZ Says: Erick Stevens is bloody and angry backstage. He promises that the way with Roderick Strong is not over, it’s just beginning! I hate it when people say that, since this feud has obviously been going on for quite some time.

Elsewhere, the Age of the Fall are celebrating their big victory tonight. Jacobs promises that Austin Aries will win the World Title and join them tonight. Next, they will regain the ROH World Tag Team Titles. Lacey says she has a backup plan to bring Aries on board if Jacobs’s plan fails. He doesn’t appear to like the sound of that.

MATCH #4: Shingo & BxB Hulk vs. Kevin Steen & El Generico

BG Says: Shingo and Hulk come out to Hulk’s music, so Hulk gets to dance. The crowd is into it. Generico and Hulk start. They trade holds on the mat. Hulk hits a dropkick. Steen tags in and hits shoulder tackles. Hulk hits the Mouse and a leg lariat. Shingo tags in and wants to tough it out with Steen. They absorb each other’s shoulder tackles. Steen sends Shingo to the floor and Generico hits a double springboard somersault onto him. Back in the ring Steen gets 2. Generico tags in and gets chopped to the mat. Hulk tags in and hits a standing moonsault after a DDT from Shingo. Shingo hits a kneedrop for 2. Hulk tags in and they hit a dropkick/back suplex combo. Steen tags in and hits an elbow on Hulk for 2. He hits an elbowdrop for 2. Generico tags in and hits a standing moonsault for 2. Steen tags in and hits the somersault legdrop for 2. He hits a backbreaker for 2. Generico tags in and hits a leg lariat for 2. Steen tags in and mocks Hulk’s attempts to tag out. He hits a bodyslam for 2. Generico tags in and eats a dropkick. Hulk dropkicks Steen to hit a moonsault on Generico. Steen hits a senton on Generico by mistake. Shingo tags in and hits DDTs on both opponents. He hits an exploder on Steen. He hits a spinebuster on Generico for 2.

Hulk hits a standing shooting star press for 2. Steen hits a thrust kick on Shingo and a powerbomb on Hulk. He hits Hulk with the pumphandle neckbreaker for 2. Hulk catches Steen up top with a leg lariat. Generico hits Shingo with the swinging DDT. Generico launches Hulk into the air, but it allows him to dropkick Steen up top. Shingo suplexes Generico. He hits the Yo Throw for 2. Hulk hits the EVO for 2. He hits Steen with the Mouse but eats a lariat. Shingo hits a lariat on Steen. Generico hits a top rope crossbody on Shingo. Steen hits Shingo with a Cactus Clothesline. Generico hits Hulk with the Yakuza kick and the Half & Half. Steen hits the Swanton Bomb for 2. Hulk dodges the moonsault. Shingo hits Steen with the Blood Fall for 2. Hulk hits Generico with the FTX, which Lenny Leonard wrongly calls the EVOP, for 2. Shingo and Hulk hit a Doomsday Leg Lariat for 2. Steen misses a charge and falls to the floor so Hulk follows him out with a moonsault off the top. Shingo hits Generico with a lariat. He hits a super Original Falconry for 2. He hits the Pumping Bomber but Generico pops up. Shingo hits it again. He hits the Last Falconry for the win. This was actually better then both teams’ matches from the night before. It’s going to be incredibly difficult for the Typhoon vs. Muscle Outlaw’z match to top this.
    Rating: ****¼

In the back Erick Stevens shaves off what’s left of his hair. Here’s hoping he doesn’t lose his mojo.

JZ Says: This is the final match of the ROH vs. Dragon Gate series. Both teams had impressive showings last night so this should be an excellent contest. And in no small shock I am right, as this is a tremendous spot fest on par with both teams’ matches from the night before. Everyone gets a chance to shine in this one, and the finish comes when Shingo levels Generico with a big lariat and the Last Falconry to get the pin at 17:49. ROH wins the series 3-2 but all the matches were good so we’re all winners.
    Rating: ****

In the locker room, Erick Stevens finishes the job Roderick Strong and the No Remorse Corps started earlier by shaving off the rest of his Mohawk.

MATCH #5: ROH World Title Match – Nigel McGuinness vs. Austin Aries

BG Says: Standard feeling out process starts the match. Aries goes after the arm on the mat. McGuinness gets to the ropes and hits a cheap shot. McGuinness goes to the arm so Aries immediately hits knees to the head. McGuinness bails. He goes for the Heat Seeking Missile but stops short when McGuinness moves out of the way. Nice callback to the last match between the two. Back in the ring Aries ducks a lariat and hits the Thesz Press. He hits mounted forearms and lays in some more knees. He puts on the Last Chancery but McGuinness quickly gets to the ropes. Aries breaks and immediately hits a dropkick to the head. He hits a knee kick on the apron. He catapults McGuinness into the bottom rope for 2. He this the Powerdrive Elbow for 2. He hits a knee to the back. He ties McGuinness up before going after the neck. McGuinness pulls on the nose to regain control. He sends Aries’s shoulder into the post. He hits a hammerlock takedown for 2 and mocks Bryan Danielson. Aries hits an armdrag so McGuinness goes back to the arm. Aries ducks a lariat and gets a roll up for 2. He kicks McGuinness’s chest. He hits the Finlay roll and climbs the ropes. He hits a chop off the top for 2. McGuinness hits the corner combo for 2. Aries blocks the Tower of London and hits elbows in the corner with his bad arm. He can’t hit the brainbuster so McGuinness hits an arm whip. He puts on the London Dungeon. Aries gets to the ropes. He hits a forearm and puts on the Last Chancery. McGuinness goes to the eyes to escape. He hits a running European uppercut. Aries goes to the eyes to block the Tower of London. He hits a missile dropkick.

McGuinness blocks a dropkick with a boot to the face. He finally hits the Tower of London for 2. Aries ducks the second rope lariat and puts on the head scissors in the ropes. He whips McGuinness into the barricade. He hits a running dropkick. He hits the dropkick again in the ring. He hits two more for 2. He blocks the handstand kick with another dropkick. McGuinness hits a lariat out of nowhere. They pop up to their feet before the referee can count them out. They trade strikes until Aries puts McGuinness down with a lariat. He hits the brainbuster and climbs the ropes. He misses the 450 splash. McGuinness puts on the London Dungeon. Aries counters to a roll up for 2. He hits knees to the head and puts on the Last Chancery. McGuinness counters to the London Dungeon. Aries kicks his head to escape. He counters the Jawbreaker Lariat to a backslide for 2. He hits the Aries Flurry for 2 when McGuinness gets his foot on the bottom rope. McGuinness bails. Aries goes for the Heat Seeking Missile but McGuinness moves and Aries hits the barricade. McGuinness crotches him on the barricade and hits a lariat. After a long struggle to get Aries back in the ring McGuinness gets 2. Aries is dead weight. McGuinness hits a short arm lariat for 2. Aries counters a lariat to the crucifix bomb. McGuinness comes back with the Jawbreaker Lariat for the win. This was every bit as good as their match from PPV. Aries threw absolutely everything he had at McGuinness, but it was a move that got him the advantage in their match a few months ago that cost him the match in this one. I love that kind of continuity. McGuinness comes out of this one looking completely unbeatable.
    Rating: ****½

JZ Says: McGuinness has been the champion since 10.6.07, and this is his tenth defense. Aries comes out with a pony tail now and always takes it out when he gets to the ring, so what’s the point? Nigel comes out with sunglasses on, and I don’t understand guys who do that either, except when Jay Lethal did it in 2006 and it was hilarious. If he can win the title here, Aries will become the first ever two-time ROH World Champion. Some in the crowd are still supporting the ROH World Champion, despite his undeniable heel status. They do a lot of stuff to play off their prior match in this one, and the crowd loves it. Aries fights through a lot, but when he hits a crucifix bomb, Nigel rebounds with the Jawbreaker Lariat to get the pin at 24:44. This wasn’t quite as electric as their match from pay-per-view, and didn’t have the added impressiveness of Nigel being so messed up, but the work here was nearly as good and this was just a terrific match all around.
    Rating: ****¼

Where does Aries go from here?

BG Says: After the match the Jacobs and his pals confront Aries. Jacobs says now, face to face, he wants an answer. He knows that Aries is hitting bottom right now. It was his destiny to fall tonight so that the Age of the Fall could pick him back up. Lacey interrupts Jacobs and says that Aries isn’t listening to his words. Since Aries is a man of action, she’s going to use her actions to show him why he belongs with them. Jacobs has strong reservations but allows her to leave with Aries. Tammy Sytch waddles out and says that Aries must have a concussion if he’s willing to leave with Lacey. She admits that she’s bribed him with sex and doesn’t understand why he’s turned her down. Aries casually walks away with Lacey at his side. Jacobs and Black hold Sytch while Rain slaps her. The Briscoes make the save. Hopefully that will be the last we see of Sunny in ROH.

In the back Nigel McGuinness declares the era of Austin Aries over. Now he’s the “ace” of ROH. He doesn’t care who comes after him next because he can break anyone’s jaw.

JZ Says: The Age of the Fall music hits and Jacobs, Black, Lacey, and Rain make their way out. Jacobs says he can be Aries’s own “Personal Jesus.” Lacey interjects herself and tries her hand, basically offering the same thing Tammy Sytch offered, which doesn’t make sense. Speak of the herpes, here comes Tammy herself. She calls Lacey a skank but Aries leaves with her anyway. Jacobs and Black hold Tammy so that Rain can slap her around. The Briscoes come out to make the save.

Nigel McGuiness is gloating and celebrating his win backstage. He says the Era of Aries is over, he’s the Ace now, and he’ll beat anyone put in front of him.

MATCH #6: Dragon Gate Rules - Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino & Genki Horiguchi vs. CIMA, Ryo Saito & Dragon Kid

BG Says: You know the drill here. Just like the past two years these six guys flip around at speeds that shouldn’t be humanly possible while hitting moves that defy the imagination. Rather than list them (since none of them really lead to another or to the finish) I’ll give you a little background about what was going on between these guys in Dragon Gate. Yoshino & Doi were at odds with their group, the Muscle Outlaw’z, because of problems between Yoshino and certain stable mates (Horiguchi & Yasushi Kanda). On the Typhoon side Saito was having problems with CIMA because he wanted a shot at CIMA’s Open the Dream Gate Championship (the top belt in Dragon Gate). None of that really manifests in this match until after the finish. The Outlaw’z win after Doi hits the Muscle Bomb on Kid. Saito won’t celebrate the great match with his teammates because he’s so focused on fighting CIMA. Doi & Yoshino fill in for Saito, celebrating with Kid and CIMA, seriously bothering Horiguchi. Things came to a head a couple months later in Dragon Gate. Shingo joined up with the Outlaw’z, turning on Hulk and renaming the group Real Hazard. Doi & Yoshino left the Outlaw’z and formed World 1 with Hulk and a couple others. Saito reconciled with CIMA and Typhoon remained in tact. As for this match it’s everything you’d expect it would be; an incredibly fast spot-fest that sent the fans home happy. It was a worthy main event to this astonishing show and as good (possibly even better) than the last two installments of this match.
    Rating: ****½

JZ Says: This is almost a rematch of the first Dragon Gate six-man, with CIMA and Genki switching sides. This is the usual awesome spot fest that we’ve become accustomed to over the last couple of years. After a lot of fast and furious action, Doi pins Dragon Kid with the Muscular Bomb at 25:44. That was definitely better than last year’s contest and a great way to end a great weekend of wrestling.
    Rating: ****

    Wrap Up

BG Says: Sweeney and Hagadorn relax backstage. Sweeney lets the ROH brass know that his ducks are in a row. He’s ready to completely takeover this company… in a hostile way.

JZ Says: Sweeney and Hagadorn end the show with more gloating about the greatness of Sweet N’ Sour Inc. and the success of this weekend. Sweeney says his ducks are in a row and that Sweet N’ Sour will soon be in full effect and he will be in the money.

    Overall

BG Says: The show features two crazy brawls, two crazy spot fests, an outstanding World title match and even a pair of fun comedy matches to start. The rest of the review speaks for itself. You’re not going to find a better all around wrestling DVD in 2008, so get this now.

JZ Says: Too bad Stevens vs. Strong wasn’t a real match, or else this show would have featured five four-star matches in a row. Still, four of them in a row is extremely impressive and easily makes this one of the best DVDs ROH has ever produced. Do you need any other reason to pick this thing up? Do it now!
